The Youth of Today (and their Parents)
I've been following this story today:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/6896435.stmMy first thought was concern about the total stupidity of 16 year old girls today. Either they knew what they were doing and were stupid enough to think they could get away with it, or they had no idea what was going on and were just stupid. My second thought was about the parents. Had I come home aged 16 and told my mum that I was going on a school trip to France, her first question would have been "How much is it going to cost?" Her second question would have been "How are you going to pay for it?" She would also have wanted to know a bunch of things like... where I'd be staying, who would be leading the trip, how were we going to get there, oh and "Where's the permission slip for me to sign?" Yet these parents blithely accepted everything their daughters told them. Is stupidity catching?
